This study aims to explore the contents and process of the supervision learning experience. Interpersonal Process Recall (IPR) interviews were conducted with one supervisor and three supervisees, and were analyzed through Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). The results of the analysis are as follows; the content of supervision learning experience was identified with one main category, ‘Widening of perspective’ and 7 sub-categories such as ‘Connecting the fragmented understanding of the client’, ‘Developing an alternative hypothesis to understand the client’, ‘Getting in touch with client feelings’, ‘Clarifying and expanding strategies for counseling’, ‘Counselor self-understanding’, ‘Linking theory with practice’ and ‘Transfer of learning and anticipations’. The process of supervision learning experience were identified with 3 categories, namely ‘Attunement Process’, ‘Emotions during the Attunement Process’, and ‘Relationship and Attunement’ and 9 sub-categories of ‘Supervisor asks questions with teaching intentions’, ‘Discrepancy between intention and understanding’, ‘Supervisee tries to digest the learning content’, ‘Supervisor assesses supervisee’s level of understanding’, ‘Supervisor goes along with the supervisee’, ‘Discrepancy emotions: embarrassment and frustration’, ‘Attunement emotions: Feeling relieved and happy’, ‘Trusting the supervisor and moving forward’, ‘Believing that the supervisee would take in feedback’. Supervision learning experience arose when the supervisor and supervisee tuned into each other’s level of learning and interventions in the midst of a trusting mutual relationship, and was a dynamic process encompassing emotional experiences. Based on the study results, implications, limitations and suggestions for follow-up studies were discussed.
