The most serious crisis that global community faces today is the destruction of the ecological environment. This study proposes the denominational policies of Christian ecological education in the age of ecological crisis based upon sustainable globe. The purpose of this study is to recognize the great responsibility of Christian churches as members of the global community living in an era of serious ecological crisis, and to suggest the direction of the policy for a sustainable global society in the level of denomination, local church, and home and daily lives.
Based upon the biblical and theological understanding on Genesis 1:28, I will examine and propose the principles of Christian ecological education at the denominational level: Respect for life, restoration of stewardship, interdependence among God’s creatures, diversity and solidarity, and sustainable cosmic community. In addition, by correcting misunderstanding about the assertion of Lynn White, who thinks that the cause of the ecological crisis is Christianity, the researcher tries to find a theological perspective of overcoming crisis for the sustainable future. For the sustainable global community, it is time to restore the stewardship to protect and nurture God’s creation as well as to promote the safety of the ecosystem and to take concrete actions accordingly. There is no world peace without peace with nature.
