The purpose of this study was to explore what latent profiles of young adults appeared depending on the combination of socially prescribed perfectionism, positive factor of self-compassion, and fear of compassion and to determine whether there are differences in levels of depression and life satisfaction in each group. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted on young adults in their 20s and 30s, and a total of 358 collected data were analyzed. As a result of latent profile analysis, four distinct types were identified, i.e., ‘average’, ‘mixed’, ‘low self-compassion’, and ‘health’. As the results of examining the 3-step apporach method, whether there are diffrences in levels of depression and life satisfaction according to the derived latent type, we found that even if social perfectionism was higher than average, the group with high self-compassion(mixed) had higher life satisfaction and lower depression than the group with low self-compassion(low self-compassion). In addition, it was observed that the higher the socially prescribed perfectionism, the higher the fear of compassion, confirming the need to consider fear of compassion together in applying self-compassion to such cases. The significance and limitations of this study were discussed based on the results.
