This paper describes the design of the spindle of a large high-speed machine. Large high-speed machines are designed to have a rotational speed of 10,000 rpm or more and a safety factor of 3 or more to increase the machining efficiency. Therefore, the spindle was modeled, and static structural and modal analyses of the modeled spindle were performed. The results showed that the maximum displacement was within 0.012 mm, the safety factor was greater than 3.2, and the natural frequency was 33.55 Hz. Based on the design results, tests of characteristics such as rotation speed, vibration, and temperature of the manufactured spindle were conducted. As a result of the experiment, the spindle temperature was 21.3 ℃ at a maximum rotational speed of 10,000 rpm, the spindle frequency was 7.96 65.97 Hz, and the spindle noise had a maximum of 81.6 dB, all of which–satisfied all the determined spindle specifications. Therefore, the designed spindle can be attached to large-scale high-speed machines.
