This study attempts to oral life history research method by focusing on a 19-year-old Female Student Volunteer Army, Kang Boonhee’s War experiences in the period of Korean War, as a way of recognizing a new history of the social disaster of the Korean War. Born in 1932, Kang Boon-hee participated in the Korean War as a volunteer for the first female student while attending Incheon Girls' Middle School in 1950 after graduating from Incheon Juan Primary School. The narrator's war story is largely centered on three parts of time-spans and two spaces. The two pillars of local space as a region are Incheon and Busan, and the case of the war was the experiences of participating in the war as a student soldier and the massacre of civilians by the military and police, where 17 family members were killed in their neighbor in Ganseok-dong during the Korean War. Issues surrounding war and violence, war and students, war and civilian massacres, war and women, war and state, war and village community were not separated or divided in the life and memory of Kang Boonhee, forming gendered narratives and historical meanings. In fact, gender is an important social basis for casting specific historical experiences and meanings, and at the same time, it crosses various dividing lines such as region, class, sexuality, generation, and country to form a specific location and at the same time form a context in which locations flow. The locational differences of female subjects create different worlds/views of war experiences, and an interviewee and an interviewer are also part of this world cast in this difference. The researcher's (re)interpretation of his/her Korean War experience from a gender perspective was to perform two tasks at the same time. Along with the dismantling of male-centered official memory as well as reflection on the historical memory method that defines women only as victims, it is a important work of criticism of the militarism and patriarchal hierarchy linked to the creation of gendered subject in the nation-state building in Korea.
