본 논문은 반려동물 상실경험을 한 성인들의 자기개방, 긍정적 사회적 반응, 의도적 반추가 심리적 성장에 이르는 경로에서 긍정적 사회적 반응과 의도적 반추의 역할을 살펴봄으로써 반려동물 상실경험으로 심리적 어려움을 겪는 사람들에게 상담개입의 근거를 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 반려동물 상실경험을 한 후 6개월 이상 지난 성인 429명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 SPSS를 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 반려동물 상실경험 자기개방, 긍정적 사회적 반응, 의도적 반추, 심리적 성장 간의 정적 상관관계를 확인하였다. 둘째, 반려동물 상실경험 자기개방과 심리적 성장의 관계에서 긍정적 사회적 반응의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 셋째, 반려동물 상실경험 자기개방과 심리적 성장의 관계에서 의도적 반추의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 넷째, 자기개방과 심리적 성장의 관계에서 긍정적 사회적 반응, 의도적 반추가 순차적으로 매개하는 것을 확인하였다. 이 같은 결과는 반려동물 상실경험을 한 사람들의 심리적 성장과정에서 상담에 필요한 사회적 요인과 개인적 요인 간의 관계와 경로를 확인함으로써 상담 개입의 근거를 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
This study examined the roles of positive social response and intentional rumination in the path from self-disclosure, positive social response, and intentional rumination to psychological growth for adults who have experienced pet-loss, to provide a basis for counseling intervention for those who experience psychological difficulties because of pet -loss. A survey was conducted on 429 adult who had experienced pet-loss for more than six months. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS. The results are as follows; first, the positive correlation among pet-loss experience self-disclosure, positive social response, intentional rumination, and psychological growth was confirmed. Second, the partial mediating effect of intentional rumination was confirmed in the relationship between pet-loss experience self-disclosure and psychological growth. Third, the partial mediating effect of intentional rumination was confirmed in the relationship between pet-loss experience self-disclosure and psychological growth. Fourth, it was confirmed that positive social response and intentional rumination sequentially mediated the relationship between self-disclosure and psychological growth. These results are meaningful in providing a basis for counseling intervention by identifying the relationship and path between social and personal factors that are necessary for counseling in the process of psychological growth of individuals who have experienced pet-loss.
