Inconel is a representative ultra-heat-resistant alloy that is chemically stable, has high temperature strength, andhas excellent creep characteristics. Therefore, it has gained attention as a component material in the aerospacefield. However, the Inconel material is a representative difficult-to-cut material, and problems such as a decreasein processing precision owing to chattering and poor assembly of the product occur during deep hole processing.
In addition, an excessively large milling machine must be used to secure a processing stroke owing to deep holeprocessing, and the inspection process of the product is time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, this studyattempted to develop dedicated jigs to improve the productivity of long rods for aircraft engines. The shape andprocessing process of the product were analyzed to identify problems and to improve the process. To improvethe process, a jig dedicated to deep hole processing and a jig dedicated to deep hole inspection were designedand manufactured. The processing time of the processing process after improvement using the manufactured jigwas measured and compared with that before improvement. Subsequently, the productivity and qualityimprovements of the product were confirmed by comparing the process times
