The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictors of the intention to utilize mental health services in youth population by applying the Anderson model. To this end, the researcher utilized data from a mental health condition research conducted on 800 members of the youth population aged 19 to 34 in a specific region, and a logistic regression analysis was conducted.
The analysis results are as follows. First, 67.1% of the respondents answered that they have an intention to utilize mental health services when experiencing mental health problems. Second, a logistic regression analysis was conducted to predict the intention to utilize mental health services, and the results are as follows: It was found that among predisposing factors the level of education affected the intention to utilize mental health services. Among enabling factors, the degree of the negative perception of mental health, the recognition of the presence of mental health welfare centers, and the degree of sufficient social relations affected the intention. Among need factors, the degree of depression, subjective mental health, overall satifaction with life, and the presence of the experience of social isolation affected the intention. Based on the results of this study, practical implications for promoting the utilization of mental health services by youth population were presented.
