This study derives idea from previous study and based on the limitations of previous research raised in the course of theoretical research, the effect of self-directed career development on turnover intention was investigated for hotel employees. A survey was conducted from March 1 to March 30, 2023 to verify the influence relationship between variables. Conducting a survey, data were collected from 293 hotel employees in south Korea. The statistical tools used in this study was statistical package of SPSS(27.0). Self-directed career development is composed of pre-career development activity and career development activity. The results of the empirical analyses are as follows. First, pre-career development activity has a significant positive effect on turnover intention. Second, career development activity has a significant positive effect on turnover intention. Third, this study can not found that the effect of the self-diagnosis and set a goal in dimension of pre-career development activity on turnover intention. This study presented academic and practical implications to pay attention to in hotel management base on the results. The significance of this study can be found in that it derived ideas from previous study and advanced them, and expanded the research to the individual level in career development, which focuses on organizational support.
