This study aims to analyze Park Ha-dam's unmungugokga and Son Gi-su's unmungugok in Joseon and investigate them in terms of poetic ideas and aesthetic consciousness. Both works were created by borrowing rhymes or ideas from Zhu Xi's Wuyi Boating Song, thus offering clues to understand the acceptance patterns of Wuyi Boating Song, the creation of new works based on it, and the culture of nobility to go sightseeing to mountains and rivers around the nation during Joseon.
Trying to emulate Zhu Xi's study and life, Park became the first person to manage unmungugok in Joseon and wrote unmungugokga by borrowing rhymes from Zhu Xi's Wuyi Boating Song. He considered nature of mountains and rivers as a place to train the mind and perceived that going on a tour to unmungugok would contribute to the training of the mind. It reflects the position of Joseon's nobility to understand and accept Wuyi Boating Song as a Jodo poem of Ipdochaje. Park projected the sentiment of being free to ramble in the stage of Murasangdeuk, which means an individual and an object getting each other's intention, and the mood of being clear onto things and embodied them. Son, instead of interpreting Wuyi Boating Song based on Ipdochaje for the training of the mind, perceived it as a landscape poem of Eumyeongseongjeong to depict one's temperament about things. He felt the sentiment of free "clear and simple" from pure light and no specks. They offer a peek at an aspect of his aesthetic consciousness. These two works not only serve as primary materials to figure out and set the location of unmungugok, but also will offer diversity to efforts to shed new light on, create, and utilize the spiritual culture and the sightseeing culture.
