The purpose of this study is to verify the longitudinal changes in marital satisfaction on depression by focusing on the mutual impact of couples, and present essential data for the marital counseling practice, where marital life is the main topic. To achieve this, data was collected from 1,269 married couples from the Korea Welfare Panel Study, spanning from 2015 to 2021, and validated the Dyadic Growth Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (DG-APIM). The research findings are as follows: Firstly, the average rate of change in marriage satisfaction was found to decrease significantly only for wives, and the correlation between the average and interaction of marriage satisfaction between couples was confirmed. Secondly, the average rate of change in depression increased significantly for both husbands and wives, and correlation between the average depression and the rate of change of couples and their interaction was confirmed. Thirdly, husbands' depression average showed only an actor effect, while wives' depression average showed both actor-effect and partner effect significantly. Moreover, husbands' depression change rate exhibited a partner effect, and wives' depression change rate exhibited an actor effect. Based on these results, the study discussed the implications and limitations of the findings and derived practical insights for marital counseling.
