This study investigated the influence of dark tourism tourists' tourism constraints on motivations, attitudes and behavioral intentions through empirical analysis. Combined with China's dark tourism resources, a total of 336 valid questionnaires were collected, divided into humanistic dark tourism and natural dark tourism. Analysis with SPSS 26.0, the results showed that intrapersonal constraints had a negative effect on place attraction. Structural constraints had a negative effect on education, historicity and place attraction, but interpersonal constraints had a positive effect on place attraction. Education and historicity had a positive effect on tourism attitudes, but place attraction had a negative effect. Tourism attitudes had a positive effect on behavioral intentions. This study offered new research directions in the field of dark tourism due to the lack of constraint and attitude researches and it is expected that it will help to establish a plan for the development and revitalization of dark tourism in the future.
