As a labor-intensive service industry, the tourism industry is greatly influenced by labor market environment and innovation due to the diversification of tourism products combined with advanced technology. Considering the characteristics of the tourism and hospitality industry, where the importance of human capital is emphasized, this study investigates the individual effects of labor market flexibility and innovation on the competitiveness of the tourism industry. Additionally, considering the impact of changes in the labor environment and the level of innovation on organizational performance, this study demonstrates the effect of the interaction between labor market flexibility and innovation on the competitiveness of the tourism industry. To achieve the research purpose, this study uses multiple regression models.
The first regression model analyzes the individual effects of labor market flexibility and innovation on tourism industry competitiveness. The second regression model analyzes the effect of the interaction between labor market flexibility and innovation on tourism industry competitiveness. As a result of this study, labor market flexibility has an individual effect that increases the competitiveness of the tourism industry. However, innovation demonstrates the interaction effect combined with labor market flexibility to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism industry.
