본 연구는 잠재적 예술영재들을 효과적으로 발굴하기 위해 예술영재와 학부모, 예술영재교육 담당교원과 교육청 관계자 754명을 대상으로 예술영재교육대상자 선발에 대한 인식을 조사·분석하였다. 그 결과, 잠재력이 있는 학생이라면 공정한 선발의 기회가 있다고 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으나 선발 절차에 대한 안내는 잘 이루어지지 않고 있다고 부정적으로 인식하였다. 수준 높은 맞춤형 예술영재교육을 받기 위해서는 첫째, 영재교육기관 유형별로 실력 수준과 교육의 목표를 분명히 공고하여 교육 인원을 조정하고 효과적인 교육 환경을 조성한다. 둘째, 선발 절차는 단순화 하되, 다양한 측면에서 영재성 입증자료들을 참고하여 실기와 면접 등 다면적이고 효과적인 선발 방법을 도출한다. 셋째, 예술영재교육을 통해 잠재력이 표출되도록 선발과 교육을 일치시킨다.
This study is an investigation and analysis of the perceptions of 754 gifted students, parents, teachers, and officials. The purpose of the study was to effectively identify potential students for gifted education in the arts. The analysis results shows that while in general the participants perceived the selection process positively since students with potential had a fair chance of being selected for gifted education, they also perceived its lack of transparency in a negative light. Therefore, the following approaches are necessary to ensure that highly talented students receive appropriate gifted education in the future. First, there is a need to transparently communicate proficiency levels and education objectives depending on the type of gifted education institution, adjust the number of students selected, and establish an effective educational environment. Second, while the selection process should be streamlined, documentary evidence of giftedness should be considered from various aspects and throughout the evaluation period for multi-dimensional and effective selection methods (e.g., practical skills tests and interviews). Third, the approach to student selection should be consistent with pedagogical framework of the gifted education program to ensure the full manifestation of students’ potential.
