The objective of this study was to validate the legitimacy of introducing the newly developed Daily Living Activities Curriculum in the 2022 Revised Basic Curriculum for Special Education. This validation is conducted by analyzing the curriculum designed for students with severe multiple disabilities, as well as the perceptions surrounding the organization and implementation of the Daily Living Activities Curriculum. Additionally, the study aims to provide practical evidence for flexible curriculum organization and operation plans tailored for students with severe disabilities. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with 200 special education teachers nationwide, and the results are as follows. First, an analysis of the current state of curriculum organization and operation for students with severe multiple disabilities revealed that the proportion of special schools implementing such a curriculum is low. However, in special schools that do organize and implement curricula for students with severe multiple disabilities, single-grade classes are structured by grade level at the entire school level, focusing on life function areas such as communication and independent living. Second, the analysis of special education teachers' perceptions of the organization and operation of the Daily Living Activities Curriculum indicated that they deemed the introduction, naming, subdivision of sub-areas, and the weekly class hours of the curriculum to be appropriate. Furthermore, when organizing and implementing the Daily Living Activities Curriculum, there was a demand for allowing a reduction in class hours (credits) within the range of 50% per subject group or concurrently reducing the class hours (credits) of both subject groups and creative experiential activities. Based on the results of this study, follow-up tasks were suggested to ensure the effective implementation of the Daily Living Activities Curriculum in practice.
