'Seolhyang', newly developed strawberry variety in Korea, has been rapidly increased in acreage. 'Seolhyang', substituted for Japanese variety 'Red Pearl', showed 5% higher income than 'Red Pearl' due to higher yield and price.
Flower & fruit thinning in Seolhyang was executed on farms in order to analyse the economic effect. Thinning is left 5~7 fruits per flower cluster. Thinning is operated 3 times from November to February by farms' habitual practice.
Growth between thinning and non-thinning is indifferent in incipient period. But as it went to later period, the number and length of leaves in thinning zone were predominant. Fruit weight was higher in non-thinning but it was higher in thinning from January.
Ratio of product grade among grade 1, grade 2, grade 3 was 44:28:28 in non-thinning and 65:21:14 in thinning. Ratio of malformed fruit was 3% and 1%, respectively. The result of economic analysis of 'Seolhyang' strawberry flower and fruit thinning was income increase of 2 million Won.
Harvested strawberry should move from production field to packing house in order to sorting and packing. When farmers used rail carrier, they can save labor 63 hours a year per 13a. And they can get save 272 thousand Won a year. Rail carrier also eases the labor intensity.

This on farm research was executed for increasing the adoption rate of newly developed strawberry technologies. The yield of 'Seolhyang' was 3,133kg/10a, which was 4.3% higher than 'Red Pearl's 2,986kg/10a. This result was mainly because of longer harvesting period of 'Seolhyang' than that of 'Red Pearl'.

LED(Light-emitting diode) lighted strawberry's length was longer than non-LED's. But yield and sugar content increasing effect were not identified.
