본 연구는 내현적 자기애와 전위공격성의 관계에서 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 분노억제가 나타내는 매개효과와 그 경로를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 소재의 대학교에 재학 중인 만 19세 이상의 대학생 및 대학원생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하여 최종 408명의 자료를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애, 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움, 분노억제, 전위공격성 간에 유의한 정적 상관관계가 확인되었다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애가 전위공격성에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 분노억제가 연속적으로 매개하는 경로와 분노억제의 단순 매개 경로가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애가 분노억제에 영향을 미치는 과정을 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 매개하는 경로가 유의하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 내현적 자기애와 전위공격성의 관계에서 분노억제가 전위공격성을 예언하는데 중요한 요인임을 시사할 뿐 아니라 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움이 내현적 자기애의 분노억제 행동을 부분적으로 설명할 수 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구는 내현적 자기애가 전위공격성에 영향을 미치는 과정의 구체적인 경로를 검증함으로써 기저에 작용하는 심리적 과정에 대한 정보를 제공한다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의, 한계점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

The present study intends to identify the mediating effect of fear of negative evaluation and anger-in on the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression. Participants, consisting of 408 adults who attend a university in Gyeonggi province, completed a self-report questionnaire. The results are summarized as follows. First, significant positive correlations among covert narcissism, fear of negative evaluation, anger-in, and displaced aggression were identified. Second, fear of negative evaluation and anger-in showed a sequential mediating effect on the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression, while anger-in had a significant simple mediating effect on the relationship between covert narcissism and displaced aggression. Third, fear of negative evaluation had indirect effects on the process of covert narcissism affecting anger-in. These findings suggest that anger-in is an important factor in predicting displaced aggression and that fear of negative evaluation can explain the effect of anger-in on covert narcissism. This study provides information on the underlying psychological processes by which covert narcissism affects displaced aggression. Finally, we discuss the significance and limitations of the present study, as well as suggestions for subsequent research.
