본 연구의 목적은 시계열분석방법을 활용하여 상담자 개입적절성과 상담자 긍정적 태도가 내담자 저항에 작용하는 방식을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 시계열분석의 다중전이함수잡음모형을 구하고 교차상관을 산출하였다. 상담자 개입적절성과 긍정적 태도는 입력변인(선행변인)이었으며, 내담자 저항이 출력변인(후행변인)이었다. 연구대상은 두 개의 성공 및 실패사례였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. A사례의 경우 상담자의 긍정적 태도는 lag 1(r=-.313)과 lag 2(r=-.401)에서 저항과 유의미한 부적상관을 보였다. 그리고 상담자의 개입적절성은 lag 6(r=-.314)에서 저항과 유의한 부적상관을 나타냈다. B사례의 경우 상담자의 긍정적 태도는 lag 0(r=-.357), lag 1(r=-.311), lag 2(r=-.304), lag 3(r=-314)에서 저항과 유의미한 부적상관을 나타냈으며, 상담자 개입적절성은 lag 3(r=-401)에서 저항과 유의미한 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 상담자의 긍정적 태도는 상담자 개입적절성보다 내담자 저항을 더 빠른 시간간격에서, 더 지속적으로 감소시켰으며, 이러한 작용방식은 성공 및 실패사례에서 유사하게 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점을 논의하였다.

This study investigated how the counselor's positive attitude and the appropriateness of counselor's intervention affect the client's resistance. Two cases of counseling process(case A and B) were analyzed in this study. The appropriateness of counselor' intervention, the counselor's positive attitude and client's resistance were measured by 3 teams of raters. The counselor's positive attitude and the appropriateness of counselor's intervention were input variables and the client's resistance was output variable. The results indicated that (a) in case A, there was a lead-lag relationship in which counselor's positive attitude decreased client's resistances on lag 1 and lag 2. In addition, there was a lead-lag relationship in which the appropriateness of counselor's interventions decreased client's resistances on lag 6. (b) In case B, there was a lead-lag relationship in which counselor's positive attitude decreased client's resistances on lag 0, lag 1, lag 2 and lag 3. Also there was a lead-lag relationship in which the appropriateness of counselor's interventions decreased client's resistances on lag 3. It shows that counselor's positive attitude may decrease more rapidly and continuously client's resistance than the quality of counselor's intervention. The implications and the limits of this study was discussed.
