본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 생활 스트레스, 삶의 의미 및 안녕감의 관계를 살펴보았다. 삶의 의미는 의미추구와 의미발견으로, 안녕감은 주관적 안녕감과 심리적 안녕감으로 세분화해서 살펴보았다. 재학 중인 264명의 대학생을 대상으로 생활 스트레스, 삶의 의미, 주관적 안녕감 및 심리적 안녕감을 측정하였다. 상관분석 결과, 생활 스트레스는 주관적 안녕감 및 심리적 안녕감과 유의한 부적상관을 보였고, 의미추구와 의미발견은 주관적 안녕감 및 심리적 안녕감과 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 주관적 및 심리적 안녕감에 대한 생활 스트레스와 의미추구 및 의미발견의 상호작용 효과를 알아보기 위해서 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 생활 스트레스와 주관적 안녕감의 관계에서 의미추구와 의미발견의 조절효과는 없었다. 생활 스트레스와 심리적 안녕감의 관계에서 의미추구의 조절효과는 없었으나 의미발견의 조절효과는 유의하였다. 주관적 및 심리적 안녕감에 대한 의미추구 및 의미발견의 상호작용 효과를 알아보기 위해서 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 의미추구 및 의미발견간의 상호작용 효과는 나타나지 않았지만 의미발견이 통제된 상황에서 의미추구는 주관적 안녕감에는 영향을 미치지 않았고, 심리적 안녕감에만 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 의미발견과 의미추구의 수준에 따라 4집단으로 구분하여 각 집단이 주관적 안녕감 및 심리적 안녕감에서 어떤 차이가 있는지를 탐색해보았다. 의미 발견과 의미추구가 모두 높은 집단이 다른 집단에 비해 주관적 안녕감과 심리적 안녕감이 모두 가장 높았다. 주관적 안녕감이 가장 낮은 집단은 의미발견이 낮고 의미추구가 높은 집단이었다. 반면 심리적 안녕감이 가장 낮은 집단은 의미발견과 의미추구가 모두 낮은 집단이었다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의 및 제한점에 대해 논의 하였다.
