The relationship between music and emotion is like joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness in that music inspires human hearts. The relationship is very intimate since music can induce human feelings by changing the mood and the physiology.

Emotional intelligence is an ability to control emotions and feelings in contradiction to cognitive intelligence. It also can be said as an ability to control and motivate emotions of oneself and others and a capacity for social harmony to overcome agonies with hopes, cope with risks, and make personal relations smooth. E. Q. (Emotional Quotient) is the numerical value of emotional intelligence. Gardner is the person who defined that emotions involve intelligent abilities at first, and then Salovey and Mayer identified emotional intelligence with focus on handling of personal emotions.

This intimate relationship has been demonstrated by finding that music helps adolescents to improve self-perception, empathy, self-control, and emotional application when students who are learning the flute ensemble are compared with students who are not.

A published research in Europe presents that high-key-ranged music instruments are more helpful to develop children's intelligence that low-key-ranged instruments. Students could experience a new world that cannot be learned from music textbooks but from ensemble of flutes, which generally produce high-pitched and attractive sound. Student also would obtain valuable influences from the harmony and cooperative spirits experienced by playing different parts of a beautiful piece with one kind of instrument.
