 There have been many academic dissertations on the research of Korea's economic development and economic growth in China so far. However, most of the research focused on the influence that the economic development of Korea has on that of China. There are also many dissertations which pay special attention to the achievements of economic development in China since the reform and opening-up in the 1980s. Nevertheless, there are few dissertations comparing the influence of the background, modes, process and achievements of foreign investment on the economic development of both countries.

Among the countries which are developing rapidly in Asia, the times of Park Chung Hee in Korea and the times of Deng Xiaoping in China have received much concern. Because of different social systems, different areas and different national situations, these two countries have their own charateristics each in the development process. Therefore, the present research compares the foreign investment in terms of background, modes, process and achievements in these two countries with the hope of being helpful to people who will do research in this area later.
