This study considers that public awareness of the role and importance of oral archives can be raised through exhibition. Oral archives have a planned character to be used for a specific purpose from the collection process. Although several institutions are conducting oral recording, it is common to have a one-time feature that is used and lost for each purpose. The oral archive collects and preserves the stories of the general public, the subjects of history, that is, the experiences and memories of various individuals or groups in words.

Oral archives, which focus on the lives and memories of various subjects, play a role in identifying past facts and collective memories, reproducing the voices of various minorities, and forming a local identity through the memories of local people. However, there are many cases in which the public does not know the meaning and value of oral archives. Therefore, this study intends to actively communicate with the public by using the oral archives in the exhibition that can structure the message to be delivered in the visual and auditory senses.

The exhibition serves as a new public sphere where the voices of individuals or communities can be heard. As a reproduction method to expand the use of oral archives, we focus on exhibitions and examine their effects and limitations. In-depth interviews with expert groups and case analysis are conducted to analyze the characteristics and limitations of exhibitions using oral archives. Based on the key words derived from the interview process, we consider the characteristics and limitations of the exhibition using the oral archives. The public seeks to actively raise public awareness of oral archives by empathizing and understanding the voices of the various subjects who appeared in the exhibition.
