 The Decalogue(Ex 20,3-17) was given to Israel, the people of God, as a norm of life through the Sinai contract. Among them, the first, the second and the third commandments(20,3-11) are commandments that show Israel's faithfulness and love toward God, and occupy a very important position in the relationship between Israel and God. However, at the time of prophet Hosea(B.C. 750-722), the temptation of idolatry on Canaan gods spread all over the Israel, and Israel committed a crime by violating the command that only the God of Israel must be served as a God. The Book of Hosea tells the story of God who redeems and loves Israel in spite of its repeated sins. And it suggests that in order to respond to God, Israel must repent again and follow the commandments that God has given and place their faith and love within God.

This Study focuses on the way how those three commandments of Decalogue on the love toward God(Ex 20,3-11) are reinterpreted by the Book of Hosea.

Chapter I presents an overview of the Commandments of Love toward God(20,3-11) and the Book of Hosea, revealing the connection between them.

Chapter II focuses on the texts of the Exodus, especially those through which the Commandments of Love toward God has been revealed(Ex 20,3-11). By looking through the exegesis on those texts, this chapter tries to show the biblical theological meaning of these commandments.

Chapter III focuses on the texts of the Book of Hosea, especially those related to the Commandments of Love toward God(2,4-15; 4,1-19; 8,1-14; 11,1-11; 13,1-14,1). By interpreting these texts in the point of biblical theology, this chapter tries to check the way how the commandments has been applied to the Israel's actual life(Sitz im Leben).

Chapter IV focuses on the theological messages of the Book of Hosea. The Book of Hosea has reinterpreted the commandments of Love toward God and suggested its own theological messages. This work presents them as "the urge for repentance from idolatry and God's salvation", "the faith that is the response to the contract with God", and "love to God who is husband and father."

This study presents what the 1st, 2nd and the 3rd commandments of Decalogue mean to us today, by analyzing how they were applied to the prophets and people of the Israel(to their 'Sitz im Leben'), especially how they were reinterpreted by the Book of Hosea.
