 리튬 이온 전지의 에너지 밀도를 획기적으로 향상시키기 위한 기술로 후막 전극 설계가 주목받고 있으며, 이와 더불어 제조 공정의 친환경성과 비용 효율성 측면에서도 용매를 사용하지 않는 건식 전극 공정이 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 특히 실리콘 음극은 이론 용량이 흑연 대비 10배 이상으로 높아 차세대 고용량 음극 소재로 활발히 연구되고 있으나, 충방전 과정에서 발생하는 급격한 부피 팽창으로 인해 전극의 기계적 파손과 부반응 증가, 전기화학적 성능 저하 등의 문제가 동반되어 실제 적용에는 큰 제약이 따른다.

이에 본 연구는 고에너지밀도 구현과 더불어 급속 충전 특성을 동시에 만족시킬 수 있는 건식 공정 기반 흑연 음극의 최적화 전략을 제안한다. 핵심은 건식 전극에서 결합제 역할을 하는 PTFE의 섬유화 거동을 정밀하게 제어함으로써, 전극 내에서의 균일한 바인더 네트워크 형성을 유도하고, 이를 통해 구조적 안정성과 이온 수송 특성을 동시에 확보하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는 PTFE의 분자량 및 결정성이 섬유화 특성에 미치는 엉향을 체계적으로 분석하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 고분자량 PTFE률 0.5 wt%의 낮은 함량으로 적용함으로써 효과적인 기공 구조 유지와 바인더 커버리지 확보를 동시에 달성하였다.

실험 결과, 본 설계는 리튬 이온의 원활한 확산 경로를 확보함으로써 전극 내 이온 수송 저항을 효과적으로 줄였고, 특히 3C의 CC-CV 급속 충전 조건 하에서도 균일한 충전 심도를 유지하는 탁월한 전기화학적 성능을 보였다. 이는 기존 습식 공정 전극이 고율 조건에서 충전 분포의 불균일성 및 국부적인 리튬 플레이팅 문제를 나타내는 것과 뚜렷이 대조되는 결과이다.

더불어, 본 건식 전극은 고로딩 조건에서도 물리적 결함 없이 안정적으로 제조 가능함을 입증하였으며, 이는 실제 고에너지밀도 셀 설계에 적용할 수 있는 중요한 기술적 기반입을 시사한다. 본 연구는 건식 전극 설계에서 PTFE의 고분자화 및 균일한 섬유화의 중요성을 부각시킴과 동시에, 이를 기반으로 한 최적 설계 전략을 통해 차세대 고에너지 및 급속 충전 전지 개발을 위한 실질적인 방향성을 제시하였다.
