본 연구는 복지시설 중에서도 클라이언트 폭력 정도가 가장 높다고 알려진 노숙인 복지시설을 대상으로 클라이언트 폭력이 시설종사자의 소진에 미치는 영향관계를 확인하고 시설에서 지원되고 있는 대응체계가 조절효과를 나타내는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구는 서울지역 노숙인 복지시설 종사자를 조사대상으로 설문을 실시하여 149부를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과, 클라이언트 폭력이 소진의 각 차원 즉, 감정적 고갈, 성취감 저하, 클라이언트 비인간화 중 감정적 고갈과 클라이언트 비인간화는 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 성취감 저하에 대해서는 유의미한 결과가 나타나지 않았다. 또한 클라이언트 폭력과 소진과의 관계에서 시설차원의 대응이 클라이언트 폭력으로 인한 클라이언트 비인간화의 관계에서 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 시사점과 향후 연구 과제에 대해 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of client violence toward the burnout of social workers in homeless assistance organization and the moderating effect of institutional interventions. Researching the actual condition of client violence and making efforts for solution can help provide basic safety and superior quality of welfare service to social workers. This study carried out a survey of 149 social workers in homeless assistance organizations (homeless shelter, drop-in center) located in Seoul.

The major findings can be summarized as follows: First, client violence showed effects on both “emotional exhaustion” and “depersonalization”, but not “personal accomplishment”. Second, the moderating effect of Institutional Interventions and prevention was shown on the relationship between client violence and burnout(depersonalization). Based on the research results above, the implications of this study and the directions for future research are suggested.
