The purpose of this study was set to investigate the cellular responses of MG-63 cells, osteoblast-like cells, seeded onto anodic oxidized titanium surface under various simulated biophysical stimuli. MG-63 cells were seeded onto the specimens and their proliferation and differentiation were quantified under various patterns of intermittent hydrostatic pressure (IHP). The patterns of the stimulation were 2 min/5 min, 2 min/15 min, and 2 min/25 min for stimulation/resting period, respectively. The cells were harvested after 7 days of culture and analyzed by quantifying DNA, ALP (alkaline phophatase) and calcium contents. The group stimulated with 2 min/15 min showed significant increase in DNA contents at the day of 7. However, no significant increase was observed in other markers during the culture, even the trend showed that the mechanical stimuli somehow contributed in proliferation and differentiation.
