The history of tea in China stems from BaShu in Sichuan province and was gradually transmitted and

spread out to the central districts. BaShu is the root and fountain of Chinese tea history. BaShu is also the main place

of the XianQin LiangHan dynasty, which covers the initial and sprouting period of tea history in China. Therefore,

study of BaShu's tea history is significant to understanding the origin of Chinese tea history. Historical sources related

to tea in XianQin LiangHan show that tea culture originated and developed from the BaShu area. From BaShu in

Sichuan province of XianQinLiangHan, a series of tea-related customs developed: plantation of the tea plant,

cultivation of the tea plant, making of the tea, manner of drinking tea, names of tea, efficacy of tea, transmission of tea,

offering of tea product to a royal household, tea plants as food, tea name as a reference to a place name or person’s name,

terms related to tea vessels, the tea market, producing districts of tea, tea used as a repository, taboos of tea, etc. The

tea culture of BaShu, in the southwest part of China, was transmitted and spread to the southeast area and then finally

to the central districts. It also plays an important role in the founding and development of tea culture throughout the

era of the Three Kingdoms, West and East Jin Dynasty, and of Tang Dynasty.
