It is said that the genuine Russian literature was started from Romanticism in the first half of the 19^th^ century. In the period of Romanticism Russian literature achieved a literary modernization and many outstanding writers wrote their works in the spirit of Russian ro mantic nationalism. In this paper I will examine the relation between the romanticism and the nationalism i n the romantic prose. Russian romanticism produced many great poets, so we call it the G olden Age of Poetry. But the Russian literary modernization is also related with the appear ance of prose. Through the modernization Russians became believe the human capability an d the possibility of realization of human value. The interest in the human being as the hist orical subject has caused the nationalistic self-confidence in Russian romantic literature. This study will be focused on the analysis of romantic nationalism reflected in A. A. Bestuzhe v-Marlinsky’s The Traitor and A. S. Pushkin’s Boris Godunov, which are based in the Tim e of Troubles. As a Decembrist-writer, Bestuzhev was interested in depicting Russian people’s spiritual and material liberation. Especially he liked to introduce a heroic person in the historic past. But his main purpose was not to enliven the Russia’s past, but to awaken a patriotism an d national self-esteem in Russian people’s consciousness. Boris Godunov took an appearanc e of historical drama in the era of Romantic Nationalism. But Pushkin was not interested i n showing the glorious past of their history and also did not try to make historical figures national heroes. He was more interested in the life and suffering of a lot of nameless Russian people. In this respect his drama is able to be understood not only a representative of Romantic Nationalism, but also a beginning of Russian Realism.
