본 연구는 NCS 표색계를 활용하여 노랑, 빨강, 파랑, 초록의 4가지 기본색에 대하여 흑색도 및 순색도, 흑순색도, 색상 혼합 비율의 차이에 따른 실제 고령자 시각에서의 색지각 변별에 관한 실험을 진행하였다.

본 연구에서는 1) 동일 면적 크기로 인접색을 제시하여 서로 다른 색으로 지각하는 범위를 도출하였고, 2) 동일색 추출 실험을 통해 색 지각의 정확성을 파악하였으며, 3) 가독을 통해 인접색 간의 시인성 및 순간적으로 변별 가능한 범위를 도출하였다. 또한 백내장 수술 여부 및 백내장 진행단계의 정도, 기타 안질환 등에 따라 실험결과에 차이가 있는지를 비교·분석하였으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.

1) 동일 면적 크기로 인접색을 제시했을 때, 동일 순색량에서 흑색량이 5% 이상 차이나는 경우와 동일 흑색량에서 순색량이 5% 이상 차이나는 경우, 백색 동일할 경우, 그리고 색상 혼합 비율이 10% 이상 차이나는 경우 인접한 색을 서로 다르게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다.

2) 동일색 추출실험 결과, 피험자 모두 바탕색 위에 놓인 동일한 색의 작은 색지를 매우 유사하거나 동일하게 지각하여 추출하는 것으로 나타났고, 이때 바탕색과 동일한 색이지만 크기가 작은 색지의 색을 조금 더 짙거나 어둡게 보는 경향을 보였다.

3) 시인성 평가실험 결과, 눈의 상태 여부에 관계없이 흑색도, 순색도, 흑순색도 차이에 따른 시인성은 높은 반면, 색상 혼합 비율에 따른 시인성은 현저히 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 동일 순색량에서 흑색량이 10% 이상 차이나는 경우와 동일 흑색량에서 순색량이 10% 이상 차이나는 경우, 그리고 백색량이 동일한 경우 순간적으로 가독 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 색상 혼합 비율이 20% 이상 차이날 때 R, B, G계열은 순간적으로 가독 가능한 반면, Y계열은 가독이 가능하나 R, B, G계열보다 흐릿하게 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

This study is to conduct the experiment on color perception discrimination from the eyes of the elderly with the ‘NCS(Natural Color System)’ according to black chromaticity, pure chromaticity, black pure chromaticity, and the change of color mixing ratio on the four basic colors of yellow, red, blue, and green.

The experiment is conducted as follows. First, when the adjacent colors in the same size are presented, the range that they recognize them as different colors is identified. Second, the accuracy of color perception is identified through the same color extracting experiment. Third, the visibility between adjacent colors and the possible range of instantaneous discrimination are identified through reading. In addition, it is compared and analyzed if the result of experiment varies depending on cataract surgery, cataract progression stage, and other eye disease. The result can be summarized as follows.

1) In case the adjacent colors in the same size are presented, it is identified that they recognize them as different colors if the amount of black differs more than 5% in the amount of same pure color and if the amount of pure color differs more than 5% in the amount of same black and if the amount of white is same and the color mixing ratio differs more than 10%.

2) As a result of the same color extracting experiment, it is identified that all subjects recognize and extract the same-colored small paper placed on top of the background color as very similar or same color. And, they show a tendency to recognize the color of smaller-sized paper as a little bit darker color even if it is as same as the background color.

3) As a result of the visibility experiment, regardless of the state of the eyes, the visibility in accordance with the difference of black chromaticity, pure chromaticity, and black pure chromaticity is high, but the visibility in accordance with the change of color mixing ratio is significantly low. It is identified that the reading is instantaneously possible if the amount of black differs more than 10% in the amount of same pure color and if the amount of pure color differs more than 10% in the amount of same black and if the amount of white is same. It is also identified that if the color mixing ratio differs more than 20%, the colors of R, B, G series are readable instantaneously, but the color of Y series is recognized lighter than the colors of R, B, G series even though the color of Y series is readable.
