본 연구는 중국 청소년들의 스트레스 대처 방식이 학업소진 및 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 상하이 중학교에 재학중인 3학년 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 조사결과 중국 청소년들은 방과 후 컴퓨터나 TV시청 등의 놀이오락 위주로 여가활동 시간을 보내고 있었으며 자신의 학교성적 및 학교생활에의 만족도 또한 높지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 학업소진과 학교생활적응 간에는 정적 상관을 보여 학업소진이 심할수록 학교생활에 잘 적응하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 학업소진과 학교생활적응에 대한 스트레스대처 방식의 영향력을 분석한 결과, 문제지향 및 사회적지지 대처 같은 적극적 대처는 학업소진과 학교생활적응에 정적 영향력을 보인 반면 소극적 대처는 부적 영향력을 나타내었다. 이는 청소년들이 스트레스 상황에서 적극적으로 대처할수록 학업소진 현상을 감소시킬 수 있으며 더 나아가 학교생활에 적응하는데 긍정적으로 작용할 것으로 여겨진다. 따라서 청소년들이 학업 스트레스에 적절히 대응하고 관리할 수 있도록 학교교육과정에서 지속적인 교육이 이루어져야 한다.

This study investigated the effects from stress coping strategies on the school adjustment and burnouts with the Chinese 9th graders from an middle school in Shanghai. The survey results showed that Chinese youth spent the most of their after-school-hours with the various leisure activities such as computer gaming or watching TV, so on. In the results, the school adjustments and burnouts were negatively associated. The adopting the active coping skills(i.e., problem oriented strategy or seeking social supports) lowered the burnouts and increased the school adjustments whereas the negative coping skills showed the advert results. In conclusions, the authors of this study suggested the continuous educational efforts should be needed to promote Chinese youth’s ability to cope the academic stress actively.
