본 논문은 초/국적 문화 현상으로서의 한국 야동을 분석하고 그 의미를 살펴보고

자 한다. 한국 야동은 인터넷 기술의 확산과 디지털 기기의 보급이라는 기술적 조건속에서 생산, 소비되고 있지만 그것은 정부의 규제 속에서 늘 비가시화되면서 불법인 존재로 나타난다. 한국의 야동의 특징은 첫째, 일반인이 출연하지만 ‘순수한’ 아마추어물이라 보기 어려우며, 인터넷 경제 내에서 상업적 콘텐츠이자 인접한 성매매산업의 광고로 존재한다. 둘째, 한국 야동들은 시장 규범적 수요 밖에 존재하지만, 결국 그 결과물은 기존의 젠더이데올로기, 식민주의와 무관하지 않으며 대안적 섹슈얼리티의 재현이라 보기 힘들다. 셋째, 결론적으로 국가 규제와 초국적 자본의 작용속에 한국 야동은 비/가시화, 식민화, 상업화된다. 이를 통해 야동은 ‘리얼한(진짜)섹스’와 ‘본능에 충실한 욕망’의 재현 불가능성을 역설적으로 드러낸다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 포르노그래피에 대한 논의를 한국이라는 로컬의 관점에서 재고하게 하고, 성적 욕망과 재현에 대한 보다 중층적 논의를 요청한다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

This paper analyzes local pornography, yadong in South Korea, as a trans/

national cultural phenomenon. While Korean yadongs are produced and consumed under the distribution of Internet technologies and personalized digital devices, they always appear invisible and illegal due to the state regulation. The characteristics of Korean yadongs are as following. Firstly, despite the fact that Korean yadongs cast ‘real people’, instead of professional actors, they can not be viewed as amateur materials but as commercial contents advertising sex industries. Secondly, although Korean yadongs are located outside of the legitimate pornography market, and therefore are not subjected to normative commercial demands, they reinforce and reproduce gender ideology embodying male gaze and reversed

colonialism seeking to find the ethnic ‘truth’ of Korean female bodies, which

fail to represent alternative sexualities. Lastly, the colluded workings of state

regulation with trans/national capital make Korean yadongs in/visible, colonized, and commercialized obscenity. As a result, What is followed by is the impossibility for yadongs to represent ‘real sex’ and ‘true desire’. In sum, this research contributes to alternative debates on pornography from localized perspectives, and calls for intersectionally situated discussions on sexual desires and representations.
