초록보기

This study was performed to investigate the effect of row cover with non-woven cloth on the growth and yield of fruit vegetables. All five kinds of fruit vegetables such as red pepper, tomato, eggplant, cucumber, and squash showed significantly increased plant height, leaf area, and fresh weight, when they were planted on May 5 and were cultivated under non-wooven fabric tunnel during 26 days. In the case of pepper and tomato, leaf area was increased by 105-119% and fresh weight was increased by 119-120%. Otherwise, in the case of watermelon, cucumber, and pumpkin, leaf area was increased by 153-162%, fresh weight was increased by 160-166% in the non-woven fabric tunnel, which showed that response of growth was varied according to crop species. In 2011, the effect of row cover according to planting dates on pepper growth and yield was investigated. When planting date was set at intervals of one week for three times from April 20 to May 4 and then plants were cultivated under row cover, extent of taking roots was accelerated under row cover. Pepper plants were grown by the end of July and the yield of green peppers had been surveyed. The fruit number per plant was 11 in control and 49 in row cover when seedlings were planted on April 20 and it was 35 in control and 67 in row cover when seedlings were planted on April 27. However, when seedlings were planted on May 4, fruit number was not shown significant differences between treatments. The total yield was rather increased by 20% in row cover with planting date of April 27 comparing to that in control with planting date of May 4. However, until July 6, the early yield was increased by 50% in row cover with 36 fruit number when planted on April 27 comparing to that in control with 24 fruit number when planted on May 4. These results showed that when seedling were planted during middle or late April, row cover for 1 month would be of help to increase total yield especially early yield by promoting root taking and early growth of pepper plants.
