2014년 12월말 기준으로 지구대는 전국에 515개가 있으며, 파출소는 1,438개가 있다. 지구대와 파출소는 관할지역의 특성에 따라 대도시형, 중·소 도시형, 농·어촌형으로 분류가 되고 있다. 예를 들면 서울이나 부산에 있는 지구대·파출소의 경우 대도시형으로 분류가 되며, 전북 정읍, 경북 문경시 등에 있는 지구대·파출소는 중·소도시형으로 분류가 되고, 충북 영동, 전남 완도 등에 있는 지구대·파출소는 농·어촌 형으로 분류가 되고 있다. 대부분의 연구는 이러한 지역의 특성을 고려하지 못한 채 전체 지구대와 파출소를 대상으로 112 신고에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대해 분석을 하였다. 본 연구에서는 대도시형, 중·소 도시형, 농·어촌형을 각각 분리하여 각 지역의 특성에 따라서 어떠한 요인들이 112 신고건수에 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 대도시형 경찰서 (1급지 경찰서)의 지구대·파출소에 있어서는 관할인구, 숙박업소, 학교, 금융기관, 현금취급업소, 외국인 거주수, 유흥·단란주점 개수가 112 신고에 영향을 미쳤으며, 중소도시형 경찰서 (2급지 경찰서)의 지구대·파출소에 있어서는 관할인구, 외국인 거주수, 공원, 유흥·단란주점 개수가 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 농어촌형 경찰서 (3급지 경찰서)에서는 관할인구, 외국인거주수, 공원갯수가 112 신고에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

There are 515 police substations and 1,438 police boxes in Korea as of the end of 2014. Police substations and police boxes are divided by the characteristics of jurisdictions, which are urban cities, small to mid-sized cities, and rural areas. For example, police substations and police boxes in Seoul or Busan are categorized into urban city type. Those in Jeongeup and Moonkyung are classified into small to mid- sized city type. Those in Youngdong and Wando are categorized into rural area type. Most studies on 112 reports have been conducted without considering the characteristics of jurisdiction. This study explored which factors influence the number of 112 reports based on the characteristics of jurisdiction in each category. The results indicate that population, number of hotels, schools, financial institutions, bars, and foreign population influence 112 reports in urban cities. The number of 112 reports in small to mid sized cities are affected by population, number of bars, and foreign population. Population including foreigners and number of parts influence 112 reports in rural areas.
