본 연구에서는 기존의 한국판 PANAS(이현희, 김은정, 이민규, 2003)의 심리측정적 속성을 재평가하고, 이를 바탕으로 보다 신뢰롭고 타당한 수정된 PANAS를 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구 1에서는 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 한국판 PANAS(이현희 등, 2003)의 한계점을 검토하였고, 연구 2에서는 PANAS 원척도(Watson, Clark, & Tellegen, 1988)에 대한 번역・역번역을 거쳐 한국어로 된 새로운 PANAS(이하 ‘수정된 PANAS’)를 제안하였다. 본 연구를 통해 수집된 자료를 토대로 탐색적 요인분석을 실시한 결과 Watson 등(1988)에 의해 개발된 PANAS와 동일하게 정적정서 10개 문항, 그리고 부적정서 10개 문항으로 이루어진 2요인구조가 추출되었다. 또한 준거타당도 검증결과, 개별정서척도, 정서경험척도, 그리고 정신적 웰빙척도와 모두 양호한 수준의 상관을 나타내었다. 구조적 적합도 검증을 위해 실시한 확인적 요인분석에서는 적합도지수가 양호하지 않은 것으로 나타났으나, 정적정서와 부적정서 간 오차상관을 고려한 구조모형에서는 양호한 수준의 적합도 지수가 나타나 본 연구를 통해 수정된 PANAS가 심리측정적으로 강건한 2요인구조로 구성되어 있음이 경험적으로 지지되었다.
