본 연구는 시진핑 체제 이후 중국의 경제적 국가책략의 변화를 분석하고 주변국에 대한 함의를 검토했다. 시진핑 체제 출범 이후 통치이념, 주변관계, 권력구조가 변화와 함께 핵심이익이 결부된 주변 분쟁에 공세적으로 대응하고 있다. 군사적 강제력을 사용하는 현실적인 제약을 고려할 때 경제적 국가책략은 부상 이후 중국이 역내 위상과 역할을 재정립하는 수단이 될 것이다. 시진핑 체제 이후 중국이 추진하는 경제적 국가책략의 특성은 경쟁, 관여, 강제 세 가지다. 첫째, 개방에 의한 비교우위 전략에서 탈피하여 국가주도의 혁신과 경쟁우위 전략을 추진하고 있다. 둘째, 무역 중심의 경제외교는 적극적인 관여와 지역전략으로 전환되었다. 셋째, 비대칭적 상호의존 구조가 강제외교의 수단으로 활용되고 있다.
