(연구배경 및 목적) 전통과 현대의 건축을 어떻게 이어갈 것이며, 전통을 계승하여 발전할 것인지는 현시대 건축계의 큰 화두로 떠오르고 있다. 왕슈(王澍)는 전통에 대해 연구를 진행하였으며, 현대적인 설계 방식으로 새롭게 표현함으로써 현대인의 심미적 요구에 적합한 건축가로서 세계의 주목을 받게 되었다. 이러한 왕슈 건축의 표현특성을 들뢰즈의 기호론적 관점으로 접근하여 관찰하고자 한다. 기호학은 다양한 예술과 미학에서 중요한 지식의 토대가 되고 있으며, 대상의 의미와 해석 작용을 연구하는 학문이다. 본 연구에서 왕슈의 건축과 기호학의 연관성을 통해 작품을 해석하고 기능적 도구의 건축이 아닌 문화현상의 의미를 전달하는 매체로서 간주하여 새로운 건축해석의 방법을 알리려함에 목적이 있다. (연구방법) 연구의 절차는 첫째, 왕슈의 건축의 사상과 배경 및 특성을 고찰한다. 둘째, 기호학의 학술 저서와 논문을 중심으로 이론적으로 정리한다. 셋째, 이론적 고찰을 중심으로 분석의 방법과 분석의 틀을 도출한다. 넷째, 도출된 기호적 개념을 바탕으로 왕슈 건축에서 나타나는 기호적 표현특성에 대해 분석한다. 결론에서는 사례 분석을 통하여 도출한 왕슈의 기호론적 특성을 정리하였다. (결과) 들뢰즈의 기호론을 통해 왕슈 건축의 전통성 표현에 대해 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 들뢰즈의 3가지 기호를 통해 9가지의 기호요소가 파생되었다. 사교계의 기호는 건축가의 의도를 이해하지 못한 순수한 형체로서의 기호로서 형태, 색채, 재료, 공간요소가 나타났다. 사랑의 기호는 공간 안에서 메시지와 의미가 연결 관계를 갖는 기호로 공간개념, 메시지, 상징성의 요소가 나타났다. 감각적 기호는 사용자들의 경험과 체험을 바탕으로 발현되는 기호로 경험, 체험, 인지 요소가 나타났다. (결론) 사례분석을 바탕으로 하여 왕슈 건축에서 나타난 들뢰즈의 기호적 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통과 현대건축 관계의 재구성 특성이 나타난다. 둘째, 건축에서 함축되어 있는 전통 공간의 특성이 나타난다. 셋째, 과거와 현재 사이에서 오는 기억의 특성이 나타난다. 본 연구는 들뢰즈의 기호학적 관념을 통해 왕슈 건축에서 보여지는 공간 요소를 도출하여 구조화 시켰으며, 인간과 건축 사이에 가치와 의미작용에 대해서 알아보았다.
(Background and purpose) Taken together, methods for continuing with modern architecture while succeeding and developing tradition have emerged as a major topic in contemporary architecture. Wang Shu studied tradition, capturing the world’s attention as an architect who is well-suited to modern people’s aesthetic needs by expressing it in a new way through modern design. I would like to examine this expressive characteristic in Wang Shu’s architecture from Deleuze’s semiotics perspective. Semiotics is the foundation of important knowledge in various arts and aesthetics; it refers to the study of the meaning and interpretation of objects. With a focus on the connection between Wang Shu's architecture and semiotics, the purpose of this study is to interpret the work as a medium that conveys the meaning of cultural phenomena rather than the construction of functional tools. It aims to inform new methods for interpreting architecture. (Method) The research method firstly considered the ideas, background, and characteristics of Wang Shu’s architecture. Second, it was theoretically organized around academic books and semiotics papers. Third, the analytical method and framework were based on theoretical considerations. Fourth, the symbolic expression characteristics that can be seen in Wang Shu’s architecture were analyzed based on derived symbolic concepts. In conclusion, Wang Shu’s semiotic characteristics, which were derived through case analysis, are summarized. (Results) Therefore, this study examined Wang Shu’s architecture’s traditional expression through Deleuze's semiotics. As a result, nine symbolic elements were derived from Deleuze's three symbols. The social sign is a pure form that does not understand the architect's intention; it has form, color, material, and spatial elements. The symbol of love is a symbol in which the message and the meaning are connected in space, and elements of space concept, message, and symbolism appeared. The sensuous sign is expressed based on the experiences of users, and the elements of experience and cognition appeared. (Conclusion) Based on case analysis, Deleuze’s symbolic characteristics in Wang Shu’s architecture are as follows. First, the characteristics of the reconstruction of the tradition―modern architecture relationship appeared. Second, the characteristics of traditional spaces implied in architecture also appeared. Third, the characteristics of memory that intervene between the past and the present appeared as well. This study identified and constructed the spatial elements that are seen in Wamg Shu's architecture through Deleuze's semiotic notion, examining the value and meaning that exists in the relationship between humans and architecture.
