연구 목적: 이 연구는 1인가구 40, 50대 비혼여성의 관계성에 초점을 두어 그 경험과 의미를 밝힘으로써 이들에 대한 심층적인 이해를 더 하고자 하였다.

연구 방법: 이 연구는 van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 연구방법론의 절차에 따라 진행하였다.

연구 내용: 6명의 1인가구 40, 50대 비혼여성을 대상으로 하여, 가족, 친구를 포함한 대인관계 및 사회적 관계들과의 경험과 의미에 대한 반구조화 면담을 진행하여 얻은 자료를 분석하였다.

결론 및 제언: 분석 결과, 이들이 경험하고 있는 관계성의 핵심적 본질은 ‘자기 경계가 확고하며, 친밀한 사적 상호작용 대상이 부족하고, 이러한 대상이 부재하더라도 혼자서 잘 해내고 있고, 해야 함’이다. 이에 더하여, 1인가구 40, 50대 비혼 남성의 관계성에 대한 경험에 관한 연구의 필요성을 제언한다.

This study aims to gain more in-depth understanding on the interpersonal and social relationship of never-married women in their 40s and 50s of one-person households by investigating their relational experiences and meanings. This study analyzed the data obtained by interviewing six never-married women in their 40s and 50s of single-person households, according to the procedure of hermeneutic phenomenological research methodology by Van Manen. As a result of the analysis, the core essence of the relationship they are experiencing is that they have ‘firm self-boundaries’, ‘lack of intimate personal interaction objects’, and ‘are doing well on their own’ even when these objects are absent because they ‘must do it’. In addition, it is necessary to research on the relationship experience of one-person households, never-married men in their 40s and 50s, as a suggestion.
