이 연구는 교육대학교와 사범대학에 재학 중인 예비교사의 교원양성 교육에 대한 경험을 분석하여 교원양성기관의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 실천적 시사점을 찾는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구 목적 달성을 위해 교육대학교(7개교)와 사범대학(8개교)에 재학 중인 학생 각각 14명과 16명을 대상으로 개별 면담을 실시하고 개념도 분석을 실시하였다. 개념도 분석결과 교육대학교의 경우에는 체계성·다양성-실용성의 축과 교수·학습 방식 및 프로그램-대학 교육과정의 축으로, 사범대학의 경우에는 다양성·실용성-목적성·체계성의 축과 대학 수업 및 특강-교사 양성 지원 전반의 축에 대한 내용을 중심으로 진술문이 구조화되었다. 특히, 교육대학교 학생들은 교육실습의 체계성 부족, 수업내용의 부적절, 임용 관련 정보 및 프로그램 부족 등을, 사범대학 학생들은 교수의 피드백 부족, 교육실습 경험의 편차, 교육과정의 부정합 등을 교원양성 교육에 대한 경험으로 제시하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 향후 교원양성 교육에서 목적성은 물론 내용과 방법의 측면에서 체계성, 다양성, 그리고 무엇보다도 실용성이 고려되어야 함을 시사한다.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the experience of prospective teachers at primary school and secondary school teacher education institutes and provide implications for improving teacher education.

Design/methodology/data/approach: The primary method used in this study was concept mapping. Interviews were conducted 14 prospective primary school teachers and 16 prospective secondary school teachers, followed by concept mapping analysis.

Findings/Results: First, prospective primary school teachers conceptualized their experience as encompassing teaching, learning, and programs’ system diversity. Notably, a high demand for project-based learning was identified. Secondly, prospective secondary school teachers conceptualized their experiences as relating learning support and system diversity. Additionally, they expressed needs for practical content knowledge, diverse teaching methods, and more opportunities for teaching practice.

Value: The results reveal that student teachers attending teacher training institutes experience a lack of alignment between content knowledge and teaching methods in their education. This implies that there should be more discussion about making teacher education more systematic, diverse, and practical.
