In this study, the utilization of competencies for performing the core tasks of aircraft maintenance quality engineers is surveyed. The core tasks of aircraft maintenance quality engineers are derived based on the PDCA framework through a literature review, and the importance and performance of the core tasks are surveyed to perform an IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis). Additionally, the utilization of competencies for the core tasks is surveyed, where the competencies are referenced from a previous study by Choi et al.[5]. The survey results show that aircraft maintenance quality engineers exhibit a certain level of competency in the Plan and Do stages. Furthermore, “maintaining the effectiveness of in-house monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation of measuring instruments” and “investigate non-conformities and defects during maintenance to analyze the root cause” are identified as tasks to be prioritized for competency improvement. The competencies of “quality management” and “quality system management’ in management as well as “honesty/moral” in collaboration technology are used more frequently than other competencies.
