It has been taught in the Japanese language education field that when two actions are performed simultaneously in parallel or when two contradictory things are reversed, we use ‘NAGARA’ correspond to ‘Myon-seo’. However, when comparing the novel “Human Disqualification” written by Osamu Dazai with the two translated books, it was revealed that only about 65% of ‘NAGARA’ and ‘Myon-seo’ matched. In this paper, I first introduced three instances from the novel where ‘NAGARA’ does not correspond to ‘myon-seo’.Next, as cases where the Korean ‘myon-seo’ is not translated as ‘Nagara’ I presented examples of misuse when the ‘Nagara’ phrase carries meanings of method, means, cause, or reason, when it is an intransitive verb, and when the subjects of the ‘Nagara’ phrase and the main clause differ, along with proposed corrections. These differences with Korean illustrate the need to reintroduce the usage of ‘Nagara’ as a separate grammar teaching point in textbooks after learners have fully grasped its basic usage, suggesting it be described again as a grammar teaching item. Lastly, as a special case where the word ‘myon-seo’ cannot be translated as usual even though it is present, I listed cautionary points for translating "살면서", "되면서", "알면서도", "시작하면서", and "다면서" . Since there are numerous instances of misuse due to directly translating these expressions, I propose the necessity of providing separate teaching opportunities for each.

日本語の教育現場では、ナガラを含む文が持つ意味は｢同時進行｣と｢逆接｣があり、それらは｢면서｣に対応するということを初級･中級の段階で教えてきた。しかし、太宰治の『人間失格』とその翻訳本二冊を比較すると、｢ながら｣と｢면서｣が一致する割合が約65%で残りは別の言葉で翻訳されていた。本論では日本語｢ながら｣が｢면서｣と訳せないケースとして、｢残念ながら｣や｢おぼろげながら｣のように名詞や形容詞に付くもの、｢寝ながら｣のように日本語と韓国語の動詞の意味範疇が異なる場合、対応する韓国語の動詞がない場合の３つを紹介した。次に、韓国語の｢면서｣が｢ながら｣と訳さないケースとして、ナガラ節に方法･手段･原因･理由の意味を持つ場合、自動詞の場合、ナガラ節と主節の主語が異なる場合のそれぞれの誤用例と、修正案を提示した。これらは、韓国語との違う点であるために、ナガラの基本的な用法を完全に習得した後に、ナガラの用法として再度、文法教授内容の一項目として、テキストに記述する必要があることを提案する。そして最後に｢면서｣が入りながらも通常通り訳せない特殊な事例として、｢살면서｣｢되면서｣｢알면서도｣｢시작하면서｣及び｢ー다면서｣の訳す上での注意事項を挙げた。これらを直訳して使用することによる誤用がかなり見られるという現状があるため、｢살면서｣｢알면서도｣｢시작하면서｣の用法は初級段階で｢ながら｣を学ぶ際に付則として教授し、｢되면서｣は「ーになる」という言葉を学ぶ際に「ーになってから」という表現も学習する機会を設けることが望ましい。そして｢ー다면서｣は、上級水準でドラマや映画などの視聴覚教材を使った授業で出現したら教授する機会を持つといいだろう。
