China's maritime militia is evaluated as a paramilitary organization, but it is mainly composed of civilians, and the effective response of related countries is limited due to the ambiguity of their status and the asymmetric nature of their power. Therefore, this study reveals the reality of China's maritime militia, forecasts the threat through analysis of activities in the East and South China Seas, and suggests Korea's response plan. The Maritime Militia was dispatched to various conflict areas in the East and South China Seas and contributed to achieving China's political and strategic goals, and today it is developing into a specialized organization with quantitative growth. China can deploy maritime militia anywhere in the world to achieve national interests, and Korea's West Island, including Ieo Island, is no exception.
Before the West Sea turns into a dark gray zone, efforts at the national level are urgently needed to effectively respond to China's maritime militia and reduce the threat. Nevertheless, legal and political countermeasures against China's maritime militia are still insufficiently prepared.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the activity patterns of maritime militia units operating at the forefront of China's maritime gray zone and to present threats and countermeasures in the ocean, which could become Korea's gray zone.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
