들뢰즈의 철학은 국내에서 ‘차이의 철학’으로 불리고 있지만, 사실 만남에서 출발해서 만남으로 가는 철학이다. 본 연구는 들뢰즈의 1945년∼1969년의 저작을 중심으로, ‘타인-우정-형제자매애’라는 들뢰즈의 만남의 철학의 방향을 결정하는 일련의 주제들을 탐구한다. 이 주제들은 들뢰즈의 청년기 저작(1940년대)부터 등장하여, 미셸 투르니에와 주고받는 영향 아래 발전되어 간다. 들뢰즈는 40년대 저작들에서 사르트르의 성별이 있는 타인이나 투르니에의 ‘가능 세계의 표현’으로서의 타인 개념들을 연구하면서, 이들과는 달리 타인을 어떤 ‘우정의 제의’로서 생각하고자 했다. 50년대에 들뢰즈는 새로운 가치의 창조를 위해 필요한 무인도를 생성시키는 상상에 관해 독자적인 연구를 개진한다. 본 연구는 들뢰즈의 무인도 상상이 만남에 의해 추동된 사유와 만남으로 가는 사유의 접점에 있으며, 따라서 새로운 만남의 가능성을 창조하려는 사유의 활동과 연관된다고 보았다. 60년대, 투르니에의 첫 소설에 관한 들뢰즈의 저작은 들뢰즈의 타인과 만남의 철학이 투르니에와의 지적 대화 속에 성장했다는 점을 보여준다. 본 연구는 여기서 들뢰즈 자신이 40년대∼50년대에 가졌던 사유들을 수정하고 보완하면서 발전시켜나가고 있음을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 결론적으로, 60년대 들뢰즈 저작이 그의 타인과 만남의 철학을 위해 타인-친구라는 물음을 여전히 품고 있으며, 이 물음에 대한 들뢰즈의 답변 중 하나를 80년대 말의 저작에 나타나는 멜빌과 D.H. 로렌스의 형제자매애에서 찾을 수 있다고 제시하고자 한다.

Deleuze’s philosophy is understood as ‘philosophy of difference’ in Korea, but in fact, it is a philosophy that starts from encounter and progresses toward encounter. This study focuses on Deleuze’s early works from 1945 to 1969 and explores a series of themes that determine the direction of Deleuze’s philosophy of encounter, ‘Others-Friendship-Fraternity’. These themes emerged from Deleuze’s youth writings (1940s) and developed under the influence of Michel Tournier. In his works of the 1940s, Deleuze studied Sartre’s concept of the Others with sex or Tournier’s concept of the Others as ‘expression of a possible world’, and unlike these concepts of Others, Deleuze tried to think of the other as a certain ‘offer of friendship’. In the 1950s, Deleuze developed his own research on the imagination that creates the desert island necessary for the creation of new values. This study viewed Deleuze’s imagination of a desert island as being at the point of contact between thinking driven by an encounter and thinking leading to another, and is therefore related to the activity of thinking to create the possibility of a new encounter. Deleuze’s work on Tournier’s first novel in the 1960s shows that Deleuze’s philosophy of encountering others grew in intellectual dialogue with Tournier. This study analyzes that Deleuze is developing and revising the thoughts he had in the 40s and 50s. And finally, this study concludes that Deleuze’s work in the 1960s still contains the question of Others-friend for his philosophy of encounter and Others, and one of Deleuze’s answers to this question appears in his work about Melville in late 80s. which suggests the fraternity of Melville and D.H. Lawrence to reconcile the Original and the humanity.
