The purpose of this study was to provide foundational data on effective educational methods to help immigrant trainees adapt well to Korean culture through the practice of Taekwondo, a traditional Korean martial art, while also exploring the educational value of Taekwondo instructors. To achieve this goal, the study involved selecting five Taekwondo instructors and conducting two in-depth interviews with semi-structured questionnaires. The data collected from these interviews were analyzed inductively in stages. Based on the comprehensive analysis, the following conclusions were drawn:
First, the educational value of Taekwondo instructors lies not only in imparting knowledge and skills of Taekwondo but also in fostering personal development and social benefits through attributes such as character, attitude, etiquette, education, moral values, social responsibility, creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.
Second, Taekwondo instructors should provide trainees with genuine training and goals, enhance their problem-solving abilities in culturally conflicting situations, and pursue universal education that promotes understanding and respect for different cultures.
Third, Taekwondo instructors should offer proper character and moral education to immigrant trainees, serve as exemplary role models with integrity and moral standards, and facilitate educational growth by understanding and respecting the trainees' interests and communication, thereby promoting the development of sound character.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
