The autonomous police system related to the local self-governing system is able to contribute to the regional adaptation and responsiveness, strengthening cooperation with local communities, crime prevention and response tailored to the region, strengthening local self-government systems and supporting local government policy implementation, and ultimately promoting democracy in the region.

I believe that the way to become a police that is truly trusted and loved by the people is through the implementation of a proper autonomous police system in this Country. There are scholars who have already accumulated research in various directions for the system, there are autonomous police committee members from across the country who have already served their entire term and have worked hard, and there are prospective members who will spare no efforts. In particular, there are people by our side who watch over the shortcomings and always support the autonomous police system.

To that extent, I think we are ready to welcome the ‘Korean police who are always with the people’ that will provide strong supports to Republic of Korea to go forward to the world-class developed country where people can feel safer.
