본 연구의 목적은 유아의 행동억제기질이 내재화 행동문제에 미치는 영향에서 어머니 과보호의 조절 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구대상은 유아교육기관에 다니는 3~5세 유아 387명과 그들의 어머니들이다. SPSS 25.0 통계 프로그램 및 Hayes(2013)의 Process Macro(모델 4.1)를 적용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 행동억제기질 및 어머니의 과보호 수준이 높을수록 유아의 내재화 행동문제 수준이 증가하였다. 둘째, 유아의 행동억제기질이 내재화 행동문제에 미치는 영향에서 어머니 과보호의 조절 효과를 밝혔다. 특히, 어머니의 과보호가 높을수록 행동억제기질이 내재화 행동문제에 미치는 영향력이 증가하는 강화 효과가 나타났다. 이는 유아의 행동억제기질이 내재화 행동문제를 높이며 과보호 양육이 이러한 경향성을 심화시킬 수 있는 위험요인임을 시사한다. 유아의 행동억제기질이 내재화 문제로 이어질 수 있으므로 유아의 기질을 고려한 양육 환경이 요구되며 어머니의 과보호를 감소시킬 수 있는 예방적 차원의 부모교육 및 상담 프로그램을 제공할 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study is to verify the moderating effect of mother's overprotection in the effect of preschooler's behavioral inhibition on the internalized behavioral problem. The participants were 387 mothers with 3~5 years of age attending early childhood education institutions, and data were analyzed by means of both SPSS program (ver. 25.0) & Hayses’ Process Macro (ver. 4.1). The results are as follows. First, the higher the level of preschooler's behavioral inhibition and mother's overprotection, the higher the level of internalized behavioral problems in preschoolers. Second, the moderating effects of mother’s overprotection were revealed in the effects of preschooler's behavioral inhibition on the internalized behavioral problem. In particular, the higher the mother's overprotection, the greater the influence of the behavior inhibition on the internalized behavioral problem. The results of this study suggest that preschooler's behavioral inhibition increases internalized behavioral problem, and in particular, overprotective parenting is a risk factor that can deepen this tendency. Since preschoolers' behavioral inhibition can lead to internalization problems, it is necessary to provide a parenting environment that takes into account the preschoolers' temperament. In addition, parent education and counseling programs that can reduce mothers' overprotection are necessary.
