본 연구의 목적은 정책적 패러다임의 변화를 바탕으로, 지난 70여 년간 중국 유아교육정책에서 요구된 부모 역할의 변화를 분석하여 정책적 시사점을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 Hall의 정책적 패러다임 전환 이론에 근거하여 중국 1949년부터 현재까지 발행된 유아교육정책들을 4단계로 나누어, 각 시기별 부모역할 양상을 분석했다. 분석한 결과, 학부모의 역할은 “유예된 상태(1949-1977)”, “초보 교육자(1978-1992)”, “교육참여자(1992-2009)”, “교육동반자(2010-현재)” 등 4개의 단계로 변화하였다. 연구 결과에 근거하여 본 연구에서는 다음과 같은 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다. 첫째, 교육동반자의 역할을 실현하기 위해 유아교육 정책에서 학부모의 주체적 역할을 강화할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 유아교육 정책에서 교육동반자로서의 학부모의 책임을 구체적으로 규정할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 유아교사와 부모의 공동교육에 대해 관리, 소통, 감독, 평가 등 구체적이고 전문적인 정책이 필요하다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아교육에서의 부모역할 및 부모교육이 나아가야할 방향에 대한 시사점을 얻을 수 있는 기초자료로 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
