본 연구는 1인 가구 형태로 장기적인(3년 이상) 졸혼생활을 유지하고 있는 중․장년남성 졸혼생활 과정에서 경험한 심리적 고립감에 따른 자살생각의 본질을 탐색하고자 했다. 본 연구의 목적달성을 위해 연구대상 9명에게 심층면담을 진행하였으며, Giorgi의 현상학적 자료 분석과정을 활용했다. 결과는 첫째, 가족들과 물리적․심리적 단절상태에서 가족들의 정서적 지지를 전혀 받지 못할 때 심리적 고립감에 빠져, 모든 의욕이 상실될 때 죽고 싶다는 생각을 하게 되었다. 둘째, 가족들과 재결합을 원했지만 이를 거부하는 가족들로 인해 충격적인 상실감과 박탈감에 내몰리며 심리적 고립감에 빠져, 자신의 존재가치에 대한 의미가 상실될 때 죽고 싶다는 생각을 하게 되었다. 본 연구를 통해 사각지대였던 1인가구 중․장년남성의 장기간 졸혼생활로 파생되는 보편적인 경험을 심리적 고립감에 따른 자살생각의 본질적 현상 부분에 중점을 두고 탐색한 부분에 의의가 있다. 이를 바탕으로 중년남성의 졸혼 관련 실천현장에서 건강한 삶을 위한 질 높은 상담 및 교육 방향에서 제언하였다.

This study aimed to explore the essence of suicidal thoughts due to psychological isolation experienced during the long-term (more than 3 years) in Graduation from Marriage life of middle-aged and older men. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 9 subjects and Giorgi's phenomenological data analysis process was utilized. The results were as follows: First, when they were physically and psychologically cut off from their families and did not receive any emotional support from their families, they fell into psychological isolation and lost all motivation, which led to thoughts of wanting to die. Second, when they wanted to reunite with their families but were driven to a shocking sense of loss and deprivation due to their families' refusal, they fell into psychological isolation and lost the meaning of their own existence, which led to thoughts of wanting to die. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it explored the universal experiences of middle-aged and older men in Graduation from Marriage who had been in the blind spot, focusing on the essential phenomenon of suicidal thoughts due to psychological isolation. Based on this, suggestions were made for high-quality counseling and education for a healthy life in the field of Graduation from Marriage practice among middle-aged men.
