This study examined the relationships among age, job stress, burnout, and work ability among manufacturing workers in Korea. A total of 366 workers participated in self-reported surveys.
The findings indicated significant age-related differences in job stress (p = 0.001), with workers aged 50 and older experiencing higher stress than those in their 40s. However, age did not significantly impact burnout(-) or work ability index (WAI) scores. Correlation analyses revealed a negative relationship between job stress and burnout(-) (r = -0.487), particularly between job demands and emotional exhaustion (r = -0.518). Higher job stress levels were linked to increased burnout(-), while inadequate compensation showed a moderate negative correlation with mental resources (r = -0.412). Burnout(-) and WAI were positively correlated (r = 0.550), suggesting that workers with higher perceived work ability experienced lower burnout(-).
Emotional exhaustion also negatively affected perceived future work sustainability, emphasizing the need for proactive mental health management. This study highlights the necessity of a comprehensive management approach for older workers in manufacturing environment, emphasizing interventions aimed at reducing job stress and providing psychological support to enhance work ability and mitigate burnout risks among aging employees.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
