초록보기
This paper proposes a real-time multi-camera monitoring system for inspecting internal pipeline structures using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) equipped with multiple high-resolution cameras. In narrow and complex pipeline environments, achieving 360-degree visibility is essential. However, conventional hardware-based sensor synchronization methods are difficult to apply because of the spatial, thermal, and power constraints in the ROV. To address this limitation, the proposed system performs stream synchronization at the ground-monitoring system level, thereby enabling the output of seemingly synchronized video streams. By applying GPU hardware decoders for parallel decoding and introducing a frame-drop strategy, the system minimizes the frame accumulation in the buffers, thereby enhancing real-time processing and intercamera synchronization. Experimental results using nine high-resolution cameras demonstrate that the proposed method achieves lower latency, higher frame rates, and improved memory efficiency and synchronization accuracy compared with CPU-based approaches. This study offers a practical solution for real-time video processing and synchronization in multistream high-resolution monitoring environments.
