이 연구는 충남 지역 S대학교 재학생을 대상으로 기초교양교과목(국어, 영어, 수학, 컴퓨터)에 대한 만족도를조사하고, 과목 간 상관관계를 분석함으로써 대학 교양교육의 개선 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 국어 교양교과목은 영어및 컴퓨터 과목과 유의미한 상관성을 보여 언어적·논리적 사고 능력이 다른 영역 학습에도 기여함을 확인할 수 있었다.

수학은 영어와의 관련성은 미약하였으나, 컴퓨터 교양교과목과는 중간 정도의 상관관계를 보여 수리적 사고가 알고리즘적·문제 해결적 사고로 확장될 수 있음을 시사하였다. 컴퓨터 교양교과목은 국어, 영어, 수학 모두와 높은 상관성을 나타내며 기초교양과목 전체를 연결하는 매개적 역할을 수행하는 것으로 드러났다. 이러한 결과는 몇 가지 교육적 시사점 을 제공한다. 첫째, 기초교양교과목은 개별적으로만 기능하기보다는 상호 보완적 관계 속에서 학습자의 종합적 역량을 형성한다는 점에서, 대학은 교양교육과정 설계 시 과목 간 연계성과 융합성을 고려해야 한다. 이는 종합적이고 융합적인 역량 함량을 위한 교양교육은 AI 리터러시를 갖춘 전문인 양성에 필수적이다. 둘째, 컴퓨터 교양교과목이 중심적 위치 에 있다는 점에서, 다른 기초교양과목과 연계한 융합형 교과목 개발 시 효과적일 수 있다. 셋째, 영어와 수학처럼 상관 성이 낮은 과목의 경우에는 과목 간 연계보다는 개별 학습 지원과 학습자 맞춤형 프로그램을 통해 보완할 필요가 있다.

This study examines the results of a student satisfaction survey on foundational liberal arts subjects (Korean, English, Mathematics, and Computer Science) at S university in the Chungnam region, and analyzes the correlations among them to explore directions for improving liberal arts education. Notably, Korean was significantly correlated with English and Computer Science, suggesting that linguistic and logical thinking skills enhance learning across domains, while Computer Science demonstrated strong correlations with all three other subjects, serving as a mediating hub that connects the entire set of foundational liberal arts courses. The central role of Computer Science suggests its effectiveness as a core element in the development of interdisciplinary liberal arts courses. Furthermore, the findings highlight the need for foundational liberal arts courses to be designed and taught as complementary, interconnected components that foster students’ integrated competencies, which are essential for adapting to AI-driven professional environments after graduation.
